This series of sketches shows the coastline, possibly near Happisburgh which is depicted on Tate D18228–D182233; Turner Bequest CCIX 37–39a. The central views depict fishing boats moored at shore with low-sloping sand dunes leading to the foot of cliffs.
Turner produced a vignette design of Happisburgh, entitled Hasboro Sands (Happisburgh is pronounced ‘Haysborough’), for the East Coast publication, though it was never engraved (see general introduction).1
