J.M.W. Turner: Sketchbooks, Drawings and Watercolours

These sketches show aspects of Brighton. At top left, Turner sketches part of a parade of Regency buildings on the beachfront with headland beyond. The artist has inscribed what appears to read ‘Sawyer’ above this jotting. At top right there is a squared-off jotting of a figure standing by some steps leading to the beach. Below is a prospect of the Chain Pier, erected in 1823.
