Here Turner has dashed off some rough jottings of flags with an inscription transcribed ‘F[...] [?Black] D[...]’. These sketches may be associated with drawings of knights mounted on horseback carrying flags on Tate D18403–D18404; Turner Bequest CCX 55–55a.
