Rendered with the sketchbook turned upside down, this page contains a series of jottings depicting aspects of the Sussex Channel coast, possibly between Littlehampton, at the mouth of the Arun, Bognor Regis and Selsey.
The uppermost view shows a beach with a stepladder, and below is a sketch of a bay with a cloud-heavy sky. Turner pictures another bay below, suggested by AJ Finberg to be may be part of the headland between Bognor Regis and Selsey. This sketch and the drawing of the buildings on the seafront below continue onto the folio opposite (Tate D18451; Turner Bequest CCX 79a).
