With the page turned vertically, towards the top is the outline of what is likely a church tower, with low buildings, perhaps boatsheds, to the right. Below is a study of a boat or boats under sail, while the slight details below are unclear. The setting is probably Kent, the subject of many identified drawings in this sketchbook; see the Introduction.
The same tower seems to be shown on folio 26 recto opposite (D35802; Turner Bequest CCCLXIII 25).
