Inverted relative to the sketchbook’s foliation, this slight coastal view continues across folio 62 verso opposite (D35598). Finberg identified it as showing Dieppe’s harbour, but this remains to be confirmed. For other Dieppe views, see under folio 31 recto (D35541).
Technical notes:
There is some brown staining at the gutter, possibly indicating water damage in the 1928 Tate flood.
