With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled the centre of this page with a study of the settlement of Le Conquet and its environs on the coast of Brittany. 1 The partial sketch at the bottom of the page continues onto folio 20 recto opposite (D23046; Turner Bequest CCXLVII 20).
