With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled the centre of this page with a view of Beaugency in the Loire Valley. Just above, with the sketchbook inverted in relation to the present foliation, he also included a small drawing of the towers of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. This is one of a number of pages featuring sketches of these cities in this volume, lists of which are provided in the sketchbook introduction.
