Accepted by the nation as part of the Turner Bequest 1856
Turner filled the lower half of this page with studies of the town and cathedral of Bayeux in Normandy. The top of the page also features coastal views with a sail boat. Tate curator Ian Warrell suggested that these drawing were taken in the vicinity of Le Havre on the Normandy coast.1 A list of the pages featuring these sites is included in the sketchbook introduction for comparison.
