This series of views, rendered with the sketchbook turned upside down, depicts mountains to the east of Schandau in Saxon Switzerland. The lowermost sketch continues onto the folio opposite (Tate D30970; Turner Bequest CCCVI 44). At bottom right Turner has inscribed the note ‘[Cut Wood]’.
