This is a cursory sketch of the Elbe valley in Saxony, looking towards Lilienstein Mountain. Turner drew this prospect on the Bastei rocks, close to a viewing platform which can be seen on the left. See also Tate D30981–D31001; Turner Bequest CCCVI 49a–59a.
