This is the tower of Frankfurt Cathedral, continued from a study rendered on Tate D30684; Turner Bequest CCCIV 29. Frankfurt Cathedral was constructed in the fourteenth and fifteenth centruries on the foundations of an earlier church. Though not a true cathedral (an episcopal see), the building was used for the election and coronation of Holy Roman Emperors and came to be known as the ‘Kaiserdom’ because of its significance in Imperial history.
