This rough sketch shows shipping in front of the Ooster Oude Hooft-Poort, the eastern gate to the old port of Rotterdam (see Tate D32489; Turner Bequest CCCXXI 24). The sketch is a continuation of the image on the folio opposite (Tate D32492; CCCXXI 25a).
