The page contains a rough sketch, drawn horizontally, of a town in a hilly landscape. Finberg suggested an identification of ‘Town among Hills (?Lillebonne)’,1and the location has been confirmed.2 The Church of Notre-Dame is recognisable at bottom right, and the ruined shapes of Lillebonne castle at centre on top of the hill. (For information on the castle, see under folio 29 recto, D23754; and for the church, under folio 28 recto; D23752.) Turner presents the castle and church from a different view to that of previous sketches (folios 27 recto and verso; D23750–D23751).
