‘Camping Anduze’ was made while Frost was visiting the sculptor, Elizabeth Frink, who lived nearby. It was preceded by a drawing executed at the camp site near Anduze where Frost and his family were staying. The print depicts a car parked beside a one-leaf tree which hangs over a saucepan and water bottle standing on a table. The sun is high in the sky. ‘We were the only English in a totally French camp at that time, so we got the tree with only one leaf for shade.’ Frost visited Anduze on three occasions between 1969 and 1979. Since inscribing the work he has recalled that he drew the image on his first visit to Anduze and printed it in c.1969–70.
