T01106 is a unique cast. Some working drawings are in the possession of the artist who wrote (6 April 1969): ‘The sculpture was cast from expanded polystyrene (in which it was originally made), and subsequently worked on in the metal, the base, of course, is not cast. I made the sculpture in 1967 (about April–May I think). It was at a time when my work was changing in material (and form) from direct work in plaster, polystyrene, etc., for subsequent casting in aluminium and bronze, to direct construction in metal (i.e. aluminium) using metal-working techniques. The sculpture in question was I think about the last piece made in cast metal’.
