Several years ago, with help from Tate Members, Tate purchased a rare sketchbook by Henri Gaudier-Brzeska.

They give an extraordinary insight into the artist’s working practice, and in several cases, reveal working drawings for some of the sculptures that are in Tate’s current exhibition The Vorticists: Manifesto for a Modern World.

Chris Stephens is co-curator of The Vorticists: Manifesto for a Modern World and Curator (Modern British Art) & Head of Displays at Tate Britain.

Lovely, but where on earth did Chris Stephens get the idea that Gaudier was born in Belgium from??? St.Jean de Braye, near Orleans, France. Family there for generations

stirred me out of my lethargy - reminded me of the G-B's work at the recent R.A. show - so the Vorticists are a must see for me.
