To mark the major exhibition, Matisse Picasso, at Tate Modern, two distinguished art historians discussed the art of Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso.



Highly influential art historian, T J Clark, is Pardee Professor of Modern Art at the University of California, Berkeley. He is the author of The Painting of Modern Life: Paris in the Art of Manet and His Followers, and most recently, Farewell to an Idea: Episodes from a History of Modernism. Christopher Green is Professor of the History of Art at the Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London. He is the author of Juan Gris (1993), Cubism and its Enemies (1987), and Leger and the Avant-Garde (1976), all of which are published by Yale University Press, and most recently, Art in France: 1900 -1940.
