Painting Present is a collaboration between Tate Modern and the MA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design bringing to London major figures working in or on painting to explore contemporary issues around this media.



In the fourth of the series which explores the condition of painting now, a panel on the relationship of painting to installation and architecture, was led by Stephen Melville. Melville is Professor in the History of Art department at Ohio State University. His publications include a collection of essays Seams: Art as a Philosophical Context. He is joined in conversation with two painters. From France, Christian Bonnefoi has exhibited widely in Paris, Brussels, Geneva, London and New York. Laura Lisbon from the USA co-curated As Painting: Division and Displacement with Stephen Meville in 2002 at the Wexner Center for the Arts, Columbus. She is a painter and associate professor in the Department of Art at Ohio State University, Columbus.
