Helen Delaney (Assistant Curator, British Art from 1900) and Patricia Smithen (Head of Conservation Programme) interview Toby Ziegler about his painting The Hedonistic Imperative



Toby Ziegler was born in 1972 and studied Fine Art at Central St. Martin’s School of Art, London. He has had a number of solo exhibitions including Enter Desire, Chisenhale Gallery, London (2005), Toby Ziegler: The Subtle Power of Spiritual Abuse, Patrick Painter Inc, Los Angeles (2008), Toby Ziegler, Galerie Max Hetzler, Berlin (2009) and Toby Ziegler, The Alienation of Objects, Project 176, Zabludowicz Collection (2010). His work is held in public collections worldwide such as Arts Council of England, Kadist Art Foundation, Hudson Valley Centre for Contemporary Art and The Saatchi Gallery. Tate undertakes research interviews with artists to establish core information about works in the collection and to record the artists’ thoughts about how their works should be interpreted, displayed and cared for.
