Eric Roth   

Eric Roth (b. 1977, Chicago, USA) is a composer, performer (voice, percussion, conductor), educator and an author of poetry and essays. His music features exotic musical shapes and animals, deviant harmonies, shadow narratives, creative applications of incidental sounds, texts, theatre, indeterminacy and improvisation. He has written for chamber orchestra, solo snare drum, very large improvising ensemble, string quartet, voices, books, electronics, found sounds, and other ensembles. Roth's compositions have been performed by William Winant, the Vox Vocal Ensemble, the Ives Quartet, Christopher Froh ensembles in which he performed, and others. He participated as a composer, performer, producer and arranger on over 25 recordings including his own Anathema, Program 16 and explosion: cerebral (a cooperative) with plans for two more releases in the near future. He received a degree in both music and religion from the University of Michigan in 1999. Roth currently resides in Oakland, California and is a MA candidate in music composition at MillsCollege. His composition teachers include Alvin Curran, Joelle Leandre, and Stephen Rush.
