Make it: Collage workshop Home sweet home sampler

Create a contemporary sampler using industrial and found materials from the home with artist Ling Chiu. Drawing on the tradition of samplers - a piece of  Embroidery" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embroidery">embroidery produced as a demonstration or test of skill in  Needlework" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Needlework">needlework. From chicken wire to industrial tape, plastic shopping bags and wooden slats, this workshop aims to find beauty in the discarded, and to transform the forgotten and mundane into a timeless classic. There is no previous experience required and all materials are provided, although participants are welcome to bring in plastic bags and small scale found materials from home.

J. Yuen Ling Chiu is a printmaker and artist educator. Her research-based practice involves collaborating with artists to push the boundaries of traditional print and collage. She is a print technician at Thames Barrier Print Studio, a member of Second Floor Studios & Arts, and works at the National Maritime Museum and UCL Art Museum.
