Explore the conservation of the Rex Whistler Restaurant’s mural and uncover the history of the artist behind it

Join us for an exclusive chance to witness the new conservation work to the Rex Whistler Restaurant’s Mural The Expedition in Pursuit of Rare Meats.

Steeped in history, the Rex Whistler Restaurant has been a regular haunt for Londoners since it’s opening in 1927 - perhaps most famously known for Whistler’s mural that spans the entirety of the restaurant.

A limited number of guests will have the opportunity to watch conservation work being carried out on the mural and attend an in-depth tour of related works in the collection. These works, much like the mural, will be themed around hunting and foraging.

You’ll have the chance to ask our expert conservation team any questions you might have about the project as well as the conservation history of the mural.

Champagne and canapes will be provided as you learn more about the unique work being completed.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn more about the astounding artist, designer and illustrator as well as be part of a piece of Tate’s history.
