Counterpoint feat. Shirley Tetteh and Emma-Jean Thackray

Join us for a back to back DJ set celebrating the rising talent of Jazz-inspired musicians

This month’s Counterpoint features Shirley Tetteh and Emma-Jean Thackray packing a bag of records and heading down to the Terrace Bar as our special guest DJs.

Counterpoint is a monthly night celebrating a new wave of London jazz-inspired musicians. Put together by writer and broadcaster Emma Warren, the line-up will see musicians applying their improv skills to their record collections with specially-curated pairings of musicians DJing back to back at each event. Whilst this isn't a live set, many of our guests bring their own special twist to DJing, from drum pads and live singers to surprising us with a bunch of brand new unreleased music.

Shirley Tetteh plays guitar in all-female Jazz septet Nérija alongside Sheila Maurice-Grey, Cassie Kinoshi and Nubya Garcia. She’s also part of South London rising stars Maisha and will soon be releasing her own beautiful sounds. The prodigiously talented Emma-Jean Thackray plays trumpet, makes beats and is the only artist in-residence at the London Symphony Orchestra to also have a show on Worldwide FM.
