Book Launch: How to draw type and influence people An activity book by Sarah Hyndman

Explore the world of typography with a fun-filled evening of experiments and activities

Join Laurence King Publishing and Sarah Hyndman for the launch of her brand new book, How to Draw Type and Influence People: An Activity Book.

We interact with type in almost every aspect of our lives, often without even noticing. But can fonts really change the way we perceive the world, or affect our senses? Sarah Hyndman opens up the incredible science and the magical art of how fonts influence us.

Witness how typography can assault the senses in the Tate Modern’s Terrace Bookshop, which is temporarily transformed into a larger-than-life Typographic Sweet Shop for grown-ups.

Which typefaces can make something taste sweeter, or more sour? Which fonts make food look desirable? Can you tell if food is healthy or naughty just from the type on it’s packaging?

Create your own sweet packaging and invent your own magic potions, using lettering and colours to bring them to life. There will also be the chance to contribute to Sarah’s new research into what typefaces smell like in the scent laboratory.
