In a village outside the city, young Lyra dreams of having a friend of her very own. So when she hears a knocking at her window and sees the face of a horse peering through the glass, she cannot believe her luck.
Their friendship blossoms as Lyra and the horse spend a wonderful few days together, playing games and picking flowers. But then, a mysterious figure arrives to take the horse home to where he belongs. And before she knows it, Lyra is whisked off to an unexpected world of adventure.

Biography
Mark Nicholas is a British author and illustrator who lives in Wales. He trained at the Cambridge School of Art and was chosen to illustrate Cressida Cowell's latest picture book The Story of Tantrum O'Furrily, which was published in 2018 by Hodder. Whilst studying, Mark won both the Lara Jones Award and the inaugural Carmelite Prize.
