Tate St Ives Private View

Members Private View: Huguette Caland

For Members with the Tate St Ives Extra Card

Members are invited to be the first to see this colourful exhibition, the first UK show of Huguette Caland.

Huguette Caland created exuberant and erotically-charged paintings, which challenged traditional conventions of beauty and desire. Her work shifts between figurative studies and abstraction in painting, drawing and textiles.

Throughout a career that spanned forty-eight years, Caland collaborated with artists, writers and designers. While living in Paris, she worked with the fashion designer Pierre Cardin, and the exhibition features some of the caftans that Caland created in collaboration with him.
