Drop in to the studios of current Artists Programme residents Nicolas Deshayes and Marie Toseland who are undertaking residencies from October to December 2014. 

Work in Focus: Perriand, Jeanneret, and Léger

Join artist and educator Susanna Webster for an in-depth look at the photographic series Les Objets à Réaction Poetique. This work is the result of a collaboration between the artist and designer Charlotte Perriand, the architect Pierre Jeanneret (cousin of Le Corbusier), and the painter Fernand Léger.

Following the Open Studios event, Sam Thorne, Artistic Director at Tate St Ives, will lead a conversation with Nicholas Deshayes and Marie Toseland, the artists currently participating in the Tate St Ives Artists Programme. 

Work in Focus: Paul Nash 
20.00–20.30, Lower Gallery 2 

Join artist and educator Steve Dove for an in-depth look at the work of Paul Nash. Nash founded the Unit One group with Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson, and Henry Moore with the goal of converging abstraction and surrealism.

Film Screenings
Throughout the evening, Studio Resource Room, film duration 55 minutes 

Join us for the launch of our new 'Film of the Month' programme, with a special showing of  Lover / Other: The Story of Claude Cahun and Marcel Moore (2006). This film by Barbara Hammer recounts the lives of 1920’s Surrealist photographer Claude Cahun, who lived with her stepsister Marcel Moore on the Nazi-occupied Isle of Jersey during the Second World War. Artists and lovers who openly resisted the Nazi, they lived peacefully among the island’s residents until they were sentenced to death by the occupiers. The film intercuts photography, archival footage, interviews and dramatised scenes.

Bristol based DJ Kinlaw will be performing a selection of tracks as part of his ongoing collaboration with artist Marie Toseland.
