St Ives Stories: Katie Schwab

Delve deeper into the arts heritage and legacy of St Ives. A series of special talks exploring social, historical and cultural perspectives on artworks in the Modern Art and St Ives display and the temporary exhibitions.

Artist Katie Schwab shares her research into the history of Cryséde, an early twentieth-century textile works in St Ives which manufactured wood-block printed silk fabrics and garments in a former pilchard works at the end of Island Road. This special talk explores these design histories in relation to the current Clore Sky Studio Commission, This Interesting and Wonderful Factory, and includes extracts of new moving image and sound works recorded at Penlee House, Penzance and the St Ives Archives in Carbis Bay.
