Artist biography

Michael KIDNER b. 1917

Abstract painter. Born 11 September 1917 in Kettering, Northamptonshire. Studied at Cambridge, then taught at a school; began to paint in the vacations. Took up painting full-time 1953. Lived in Paris 1952–5 and studied for six months at the Atelier André Lhote. Influenced by Cézanne, Cubism, de Staël and later by American painting. First one-man exhibition at the Grabowski Gallery 1962.
