At the time when this group of prints was acquired the artist supplied notes on them. Of ‘Exchange’ he wrote: ‘The title refers both to the exchange of work between myself and Dora Maurer and the “exchange” of colour values as the image went through the photographic process.’ Dora Maurer is a Hungarian artist with whom Christie was in correspondence, see below.
