T01838 Figure II 1960
Inscribed ‘Denny 60’b.r.
Coloured crayon on collaged papers on paper, 17¿ x 15 (45.3 x 38).
Presented by the artist 1973.
Exh: Tate Gallery, March–April 1973 (not numbered).
Seven of the eleven narrow strips of collaged paper overlap the sheet which supports the collage, giving the work a slightly larger overall dimension than that of the sheet, which measures 16¾ x 15 (43 x 38).
The strips which extend beyond the support were said by the artist not to have had any significance in relation to the structure or format of the collage itself. As for T01837, T01838 was not a study for a painting.
