This painting condenses Donagh's recollected experience of a group action which her fine art students performed at Reading. On a representation of the grid which the students drew on the floor, perspective projections of the studio space are superimposed. A pink organic shape refers both to a blood stain left on the floor after a performance using entrails and to the killing of student protestors at Kent State University, Ohio, also in May 1970. Donagh was shocked at these events and aware of the privilege of her students' relative safety. She was stimulated by group participation but the experience reinforced her need both to paint and to draw, this picture requiring many studies on paper.
