Garaicoa’s work is often concerned with failed utopian schemes, presenting a critical reflection on the social and political history of Cuba since the revolution. He focuses on architecture as a way of addressing the degraded reality of contemporary Havana. This work was created from an English-language educational book on architectural drawing whose pages have been cut and folded. The book was re-published in Cuba in 1966 and reflects the utopian aspirations of the revolution through the emphasis it placed on education, in this case in the field of architecture.
