All the drawings by Julio González given to the Tate are authenticated on the back by his daughter Roberta González and inscribed with a title and date, or approximate date. The titles are used in the catalogue entries, but the dating has been made more precise wherever possible. (Julio González's drawings are usually dated from about 1934 onwards, but the great majority of the early drawings are undated).
A profile drawing very similar to this one, apparently of the same girl in the same hat, is reproduced by Gibert (op. cit., p.7) as 'Profile in a Coif No.2'. They can be compared with a further drawing, possibly of the same girl in a different type of head-dress, also in profile to the left, which is reproduced in Gibert, op. cit., p.6 and which is signed 'Jules González', a form of signature which the artist does not seem to have used later than 1904.
