P07477 CEILING 1980

Inscribed ‘SW Hayter 80’ bottom right and ‘Ceiling’ and ‘E 4/5’

Etching, printed by the artist with Hector Saunier and published by the artist (edition size not known), 19 1/4×23 1/4 (48.8×59)

'Ceiling’ is an abstraction of the interior of Hayter's studio (in Paris), with its very high ceiling and tall window. In the engraving ‘Hex’ [P07478] the window appears again, with his characteristic looping, gestural line in a more abstract, spatial configuration.
