Jeremy Moon, Blue Rose 1967
© Estate of Jeremy Moon
Display caption
Moon painted nineteen canvases in 1967, and five of them share the same shape and size as Blue Rose. Here, Moon inverted and truncated his ‘Y’ form and, rather than running the colours across it as in Arabian Night, arranged the stripes along the contours of the canvas. This version was his preferred configuration of the shaped canvas. Moon subsequently painted two smaller versions, one of which had bands of varying widths.
