Photolithograph (proof) for ‘Zero Energy Experimental Pile’, printed at Advanced Graphics, published by Petersburg Press in an edition of 100, 29 3/4 × 19 3/4 (75.5 × 50.2)
Presented anonymously through the Friends of the Tate 1980

‘Zero Energy Experimental Pile’ 1969–70 (op.cit., nos.57–62) is a set of six prints in which four-colour process photolithography is used. Paolozzi modified the colour separations and then added screenprinting and acetate lamination. This proof appears to be a colour trial of the photolithograph stage: the final version of this image is in garish but more naturalistic colours.
