The original artwork for the right-hand image in Print E [P03055] of Paolozzi’s suite of etchings ‘Cloud Atomic Laboratory’ 1971. The entry on this image in the text- sheet published with the suite reads: ‘VARGA—BILLBOARD—GIRL. (Winter Garden—Zanzibar). A 125-foot Varga displays her giant charms from a billboard in Times Square.’ The artist told the compiler (conversation, 7 June 1972) that the source of the image in T01475 was a now-defunct American magazine, Portfolio… (read more)
