The artist wrote (15 June 1969) that this relief was the sixth made in 1962. 'It belongs to the period of my white and black reliefs made in the years 1959-64. In 1964 I turned to making reliefs in metal (aluminium, copper). Since 1968 I have been preoccupied exclusively with the problems of colour and I now make reliefs painted with acrylic.'
