Catalogue entry

With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled the top half of this page with a view of a small building with arched windows opening onto a riverside or landscape garden. The handling is too cursory here to identify a definite location for this scene although the surrounding pages are much taken up with the landscape of the Île-de-France. For a list of these drawings, see the sketchbook Introduction.
