Catalogue entry

This drawing was made with the page turned horizontally. A finished watercolour (private collection)1 was based on it, or possibly, as Finberg surmised,2 on a slightly different version of it. It was made for the Earl of Essex, and engraved for the History and Description of Cassiobury Park, 1816 (Tate impression: T04841). For Essex’s commission, see under D02235 (Turner Bequest XLVII 58).
