Catalogue entry

Turner has produced this pencil drawing with the sketchbook turned upside down relative to the foliation. This is a rough marking out of the profile of a cliff and surrounding topography produced with rapid, summary handling. What appears to be the number ‘70’ or ‘170’ has been inscribed towards the top right, above a scribbled pencil mark.
Technical notes:
Some of the watercolour from folio 15 recto (D35376) has offset onto the page.
