Catalogue entry

This leaf and folio 40 of the sketchbook (D10580; Turner Bequest CXL 87), also showing Deal, were described by Finberg as ‘loose and unnumbered’ but probably belonging ‘originally’ to this sketchbook. This sketch looks at the town running southwards along the beach. The three-storey semaphore tower (which still stands today) can be seen at centre.
There is a finger-print in ink or grey wash, right of centre.
Verso:
Blank.
In addition to the features noted under D10580, this leaf shows evidence of folding at the top right corner.
