From the shore at the south-east end of Falmouth harbour, Arwenack Street recedes on the left towards the tower of the parish church of King Charles the Martyr. The old quay towards the centre survives, but the waterfront in the foreground has since undergone substantial redevelopment, and is now the site of the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, off Cambeltown Way. Turner’s viewpoint can be approximated in various places around the surrounding quays and car parks.
For other views in the area, see under folio 25 verso (D08901; CXXV 24a).
Verso:
Blank. There is some dark spotting.
