Catalogue entry

This view of Mayburgh Henge seems to have been made by Turner in order to record the view to the left (west) of the main site as depicted on folio 26 verso (D25812). The two sketches closely match, but this one extends at the left to folio 27 verso (D25814), and shows the rest of the earthwork bank at the view to the Cumbrian mountains in the west. The single standing stone can be seen just right of centre with Beacon Hill above it in the distance.
