Catalogue entry

With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled the centre of this page with a study of the Château de Rambouillet, located some thirty miles south-west of Paris. The house’s crenellated round tower is featured particularly prominently. Turner made several sketches of this site in the present volume, a list of which is provided in the sketchbook Introduction.
