A group of slight architectural studies, executed hastily though in places with precision. Christopher Wilson has identified the top left-hand sketch as showing part of the High Altar screen, and the arcade immediately below as a detail of the South Choir aisle. Other studies of St Albans Abbey are Tate D00345, D00346, D00385, D00387 and D01100 (Turner Bequest XXI R, S, XXIII K, M, XXXVI F).
The sheet has been folded laterally in three places, and is stained and dirty.
Blank; stamped in brown ink with Turner Bequest monogram.
