For Les Houches, where Turner began his ascent into the Chamonix valley, see especially folio 63 of this sketchbook (D04461); a further sketch is on folio 72 verso (D04480). As identified by David Hill in correspondence with the author,1 this sketch was made nearby, looking back the way Turner had come, along the Arve valley from Servoz.
