Across the present page and folio 2 (D13451) is a view of Fish Quay at North Shields with its two harbour lights. The view looks west from the quay with the Low Light and wharf at the left of the present page, and the town, accessible by the steps at the right, with the High Light on folio 2. The masts of several boats can be seen in the harbour.
See folio 13 (D13473) for more information about Turner’s visit to North and South Shields and references to his other sketches.
